sharing a card.....

Romaine sent me this card today using one of my files "Ornaments in a box".

She copied the "Joy" title from an old Christmas card that she found and has shared it with the yahoo wishblade group.

What a nice surprise! Thank you Romaine for submitting this beautiful card!

I'm in the mood......

for making Christmas cards...

last year our family received several cards from the people at our Parish...it was so thoughtful of them to take a moment and send us blessings and to have us in their prayers...that was after our car accident...it really surprised my husband that others thought of us...

....so this past weekend i picked up some names of people from our parish to send Christmas cards to....some of them are very ill...i want to send each one of them cards that will lift their spirits... so i'm busy today making these cards sharing them with you...maybe one will inspire you to get creative... if you have any cards that you made with any of my files...send them to me at carrie_schwartz@att.net...remember if you do i will share a file with you!

cardstock Polar Paradise by Reminisce, Khaki green & blue, peace & love from file CS00124- Christmas titles III, snowflake from file CS00127- Snowflakes & Titles!, fiber khaki green

Noel Christmas Card

Noel Christmas card was made using Ornaments in a box, I'm dreaming of a White Christmas & Christmas Titles III.

Other supplies: pink glitter fiber, one inch ribbon, glitter glue, and card stock.

With the glitter glue I filled in the ornaments, made strips on "Noel" & brushed over snowflake.

no surprises!!!!

one of my favorite things to do each year is make my own Christmas cards... i love to share my talent but i don't want it to cost an arm and a leg!!!!

one year i found out the hard way..... i created some elegant Christmas cards using bazzill cardstock..... i had over 30 embellished cards and made my own envelopes to match ...i was so proud of the work i had put into them....and couldn't wait to get them off in the mail.

i had to be the happiest customer standing in line at the post office.....gleaming with such a big smile..... thinking about my friends and relatives opening these cards...i stepped up to the clerk handing her my pile........ and then she let me have it!!!!! all of my pride wiped away with just a few lashings...as the postal clerk advised me of all my no-no's

...first i exceeded standard weight for first class mail (it was that bazzill cardstock!)....then the worst most embarrassing moment when she plopped one of my envelopes in here little guide sitting there on the counter ...have you ever seen it? the little outlined envelope meauring 5 inches long, 3-1/2 inches high..... i'm like where did that come from????...never in my life have i ever seen that on her counter...which at the time i was visiting the post office weekly shipping off my ebay sales.

well......i addressed the envelope the wrong way!!!! when she set the envelope down with the address facing me....it went out of it's boundaries......i had turned the envelope to address the cards so the card was now 3 1/2 inches by 5 inches.......my thoughts returned to those lessons taught in second grade and my face turned bright red...i should have known better! but wait...can't the postman read it side ways? nope, nada, no way she says to me!

all that work all that time...and it was way over the amount i planned on spending.....i couldn't just walk away...... so i handed over the credit card and bit my tongue..... thank you thank you mr. postman for the extra dip in my pocket ....so lesson learned........i now check the first class mail rates to make sure I am mailing at the correct width, height and weight before planning and addressing my envelopes..... that way i have no surprises.....

oh yeah and the deadline to mail your cards so they arrive before Christmas is December 20th in the usa. if you need more information on mailing just check out usps.

Christmas Cards

so this year we are looking to send out Christmas cards...

these are some of the cards or photos we sent in the past...

i'm curious to see what we come up with this year...

it must be done this weekend! we are running out of time but so hard to get everyone together.

hope your preparations are going well...

I'm sorry about the long delay... You guys know me I get so darn busy.... it's hard to keep up the blog with such a big family and so much going on.

Over the weekend I brought the kids to see Enchanted it was the most adorable movie... I smiled throughout the whole thing and at times roared with laughter...Jennifer said I embarrassed her....but don't all mom's embarrass their thirteen year olds? You have got to see this new Disney movie!! It is enchanting!

We also went ice skating- oh so much fun. Lorelei and Jesse had a difficult time but Julie she took off! I was glad Brian and Katie went with us.... they helped with the little peeps and I tried to get use to wearing hockey skates because the figure skates were killing my ankles....never had that problem. It's different skating in those hockey skates at first I wasn't sure how to stop....but thank goodness I only fell forward slowly and didn't do to much damage. I still am a little weary of going around the curve, haven't figured out how to maneuver my feet...but with some time I'll get it. We are planning to go back this weekend and skate with Santa...wish my camera wasn't broke...I'm missing so many great moments.

On Sunday....Scott surprised me with some VIP tickets to see the RAMS. That was my first professional football game... I was amazed at all the hype going as we walked to the stadium. Bands playing, people cooking out of their tailgates... I've only seen this on tv! Boy do I miss out on a lot!

But......we had a blast...we stayed in a luxury suite filled with fabulous foods... I ate the whole time we were there! Well.....it was free so I took advantage.... We met new friends, enjoyed a fantastic game which we won against the Atlanta Falcons.....

This week I worked on a tutorial for the NEWSLETTER, showing how to apply snow to your projects. The other designers have been working hard on their articles. And there will be free files given away so if you haven't singed up you can click on the link to do so. If you delay you won't get this months issue.

Now for a file for the group.....

Have a great day and don't forget St. Nicholas feast day December 6th...I've got to go get shopping!

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

Our Parish did a wonderful job of setting the mood for Julie's first reconciliation. It was so beautiful the lights were dim with a large ten candelabra that sat on the alter. The service began with a song then a reading which was followed by ten examinations of conscience (for children), each time one was read our Priest put out a candle. What a powerful message in showing the darkness of our sin.

The children, all ninety eight of them then sang a song with hand motions invoking the Holy Spirit, this lasted about seven minutes (I wish I had a video camera going it was so beautiful I was ready to cry)! Each child was lead by an usher to the confessional. When Julie returned we stepped up on the alter and placed a colored flame that she worked on over the weeks coloring a section in each day when she did some act of kindness. This was placed on a large ten foot black flame representing "sin" and now it was being covered up by grace. At the foot of the alter was a large table with candles, when then light one candle and by the end of the evening all ninety eight candles were brightly shining. The service concluded with the children singing "this little light of mine".

Then we went to the banquet center for refreshments and we ate way to many desserts. So on our way home Julie says "For real... I have a stomach ache!" I replied "Hum, for real? So on the evenings before school when you say you have a stomach ache...those aren't real?" She laughed...cause finally I know. It was a graced filled moment.... the truth coming to light...this has been a weekly complaint breaking into cries so next time she complains I'm going to remind her.....little stinker....she just always wants to be with me.

************************************************************************************

Now for you....As I'm placing Christmas files in the store I have had some help from little elves they have tucked some coupons in some of the files for you to save on future purchases, so if your one of the lucky ones you just may come across one of these coupons.
I've had a couple of personal emails on making a Christmas album...in hopes that I do! My question is....Does anyone think they would have time? If I could make this and hold the classes open through the middle of January..... would you be interested? PLEASE Let me now as soon as possible.... I think with enough interest I could have it done by the weekend, considering I made the cover a month ago and put a lot of work into it. Leave a post here if you don't mind it's easier for me to see it. The album could be....Christmas gifts that you give to friends & family????

Tomorrow I will spread some good cheer with another file uploaded to the group. Before I go I want to thank those who have sent me emails from sharing my files. It cheers me up to hear how you will use them.

New Christmas files

I just released some new files this past week and it's been a busy week! I haven't had much time at all to get on the computer but in between running I've created some awesome files!!!!
You can view them in the little slide on your right. I have many more that I just have to cut so keep watch for them.

Tomorrow I will give away a file from the group and make an announcement on a special surprise tucked in some of my files.

I worked on this layout using my new file "Santa going down the chimney". It's already for pictures! I'm hoping to get caught up on Christmas layouts before the big day.

I've been thinking about creating that Christmas album... I finished the cover a while back and don't know if I will have the time to complete it.... If I don't get to it by this weekend I'm going to have to let it go...at least for this year!

If you are interested in taking a class please let me know by posting here or emailing me..... if their is enough interest I just might push myself but time is running short.

I also have a little problem...my camera broke or should I say some little toddler around here did something to it. It's very hard to use it shuts off when I take a picture and I'm a little upset with fugi since I purchased my camera four years ago. They made the smart card for it then stopped so now I don't know if I'm wanting it to be repaired. Hopefully I'll get one for Christmas!

So to take pictures of techniques is a real bear! I was doing that with my Thanksgiving class and I don't know if I have the patients right now to deal with it.

Family life- Julie goes to her first Reconciliation tomorrow night...I'm so excited one more child to step into more GRACES!!! and we need them!!! Katie has taken a career change she is going to be an Art teacher.... I wonder whose foot steps she is following! The girls Jennifer and Kristen, they are Irish twins... are asking for everything under the sun...laptops, cell phones, stuff that is way to out of our league. And Jesse, he's learned some knock knock jokes so I hear them all day long....

Have a great week!

Difference between Thanksgiving Mega Pack & Classes

I am receiving emails on about my Mega Pack & Classes since most of the files are the same.

Here's the difference between the two:

The class gives you access to step -by -step instructions for making the Thanksgiving album from cover to back. Each file is color coded for easy cutting. This means the die-cuts are separated in pieces to coordinate colors. A file of brown_latte would have everything that you would need to cut in these colors on that file. Each file has a color-coded illustrated guide telling you exactly where the pieces would go.

The class also has colorful instructions for placing all the pieces per page. I give illustrated instructions on techniques used on some of the die-cuts and mats. By the end of the class you will have a beautiful Thanksgiving album.

The Mega Pack is full of all of the files that I created for Thanksgiving and never placed in the store which were created for the album or just never had the time to load as an individual file.
Each file has it's own die-cut all in one. Not like the class which is color-coded.

So if you want these files individually to add to your own layouts then I would go with the Mega pack if you want to make the album then purchasing the class is the way to go.

Cranberry Nut Mold

I didn't forget you...but I did forget the name of my Grandmother's mold...it's actually her Cranberry Nut Mold and I hope that you will try it! It's tradition in our home and easy to make. The recipe is below.

Cranberry Nut Mold

1 bag (12 ounces) cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
2 pkg. 4 serving size or 1 pkg.- 8 serving size of orange Jello gelatin
1 1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 apple
1 whole orange

Chop crannberries, orange, apple and nuts throw all ingredients in a jello mold, place in the refrigerator till firm.

I make this the night before Thanksgiving. I begin with the nuts throwing them in my food processor till they are chopped very small like grains. I clear that out putting them aside and add my cranberries to the food processor. Next I slice the apple first then put that in my machine. The last thing I chop is the orange and I include the peel.

I hope that you will enjoy !

While looking for my grandmother's Cranberry Nut Mold I found a picture of our turkey from last years Thanksgiving meal. I thought you might want to see what it looks like...I just can't wait now after seeing this.

You can get the recipe below from clicking on the link I posted yesterday...it is simply delicious.

How are you setting your table?

A quick hello this busy busy time of year.

I hope all of you are in good health and looking forward to Thanksgiving with your family and friends. With the help of Jennifer we will be cooking our meal.

How do you cook your turkey? I'm curious to know....

I use a brine the night before and I'm telling you it makes the BeSt tasting turkey I ever had. I watched Emeril prepare it on the food network a couple of years ago and ever since we are hooked.

Here's a link to Emeril's Brined and Roasted Turkey If you want a new recipe to try.

And to help you set your table I want to share with you my Thanksgiving place setting cards.
They are waiting for you to download in our group...so hurry they will be there for at least the next 24 hrs.

Come back tomorrow I want to share with you a very special recipe created by our Jewish Grandmother Louise, who is 90 years young. It's her Cranberry Orange Jello mold. I will dig up her recipe tomorrow morning, it's to die for! I do have a picture from last year of her mold that I can share, we love it so much I'm wanting to scrap a page on it so of course I took a picture. I'll have to look for that too and I can't wait to introduce you to the most wonderful person in my life...that's Louise.

Have a nice day!

Where has Carrie been?

I am finally, feeling good...YEAH! Still coughing but feeling like I'm going to make it! Today I brought our fourth family member to the doctor, Kristen and she is the only one who wasn't diagnosed with the pneumonia that was sick.

Our pediatrician and staff felt so sorry for us! She looked in Julie's files at our first visit with her and that was back on October 12th. I missed out on so much....visiting the pumpkin patch with the family, Scott took all the kids so I could sleep. Then I missed out on trick or treating. I did make them take my camera! So I do have pictures to share and will have them at the end of my post here.

I just looked at the Paperthreads newsletter it is totally AWESOME!!!!!! I hope you have signed up for it! Every month it will be issued with articles to help you in using your machines to scrapbooking techniques! Free files before they are released for you to download. And much more I can't tell! So sign up now if you haven't done so lately. Here's the link NEWSLETTER.
If you were signed up for it before the switch to the new server you need to sign up again because those emails were lost. Believe me a few moments of your time will be well worth it...so don't delay!

Now, my yahoo group...This group was created mainly to distribute free files and make announcements on my upcoming classes. I don't see that I will open up the group for sharing other information since we do have the forum at Paperthreads to learn from and share your creative files there. Now that I am feeling better I will be putting more files up for you to download starting tomorrow, Novemeber 13th.

Here are some of our little trick or treaters...and big ones! Jason came over with Brian's help and took the little ones out for us...aren't they sweet! I just love my boys!

Finally it's here! Thanksgiving mini album

Click on AD to super size!

Here it is finally... I feel such a relief! You are going to love this! Their are ten pages in this adorable album and that's not counting the cover. The binding is unique since the cover and the back will fold over one another giving your album more support.

Each page comes with it's own colorful instructions that's twenty-one pages and instructions for binding. Their are thirteen titles and I think 29 embellishments all themed for your Thanksgiving dinner.

Remember important moments of Thanksgiving by recording all the activity in your little mini album. Theirs two pages for recipes, one for recording and one for pictures of your favorite dishes.

Keep track of your shopping because Thanksgiving dinner is priceless! Theirs a place to stuff receipts and take pictures of your groceries. Let your grandchildren have special memories of all your work! And if you are one of the lucky ones out there that doesn't have to prepare a Thanksgiving meal, then create this as a gift for the cook! Wouldn't she be surprised!

Their is much to give thanks for! Isn't that what the day is all about, Giving thanks. Well their is two pages for photos of your special moments of "thanksgiving". Either it's a life that was saved, a baby that was born or the whole family that you are thankful for. Record the special events of the year in the mini tag book tucked under one of the photo mats.

And we can't forget the turkey! Their are two pages for photos or you could use the smaller mat for journaling, but don't forget the turkey!

Oh, yes and if the dinner wasn't enough, how about those pies! A page devoted to all of your special homemade pies! Lastly...this one I just had to make and I just can't wait to place the picture of all my family members stuffed after such a big meal. So a page devoted just for the stuffed turkey's in your home.

I planned this so it is easy for you! I only purchased five yards of ribbon and eight specialty papers. Hopefully, your craft room is stocked with the rest of the papers all fall colors! You will need a few flowers, I purchased mine and had them in my stash so any will do! A few brads, some glitter glue, magic tape, pop dots, walnut ink and the the rest I'm providing. You won't have to measure a thing! Because it is all ready to cut out!

In the class you will get some tips on applying ink and using mask. Use glitter to add sparkle and what to pop and what not to. You will have a master piece after you are done!

My thought are that this can be made in just a couple of days with all of your interruptions! Since the files will have all the embellishments color coded and ready to cut. Along with a illustration to refer to the page that you will place the embellishment on! Wow, what service!

I hope I've covered all the information you need, if not just email me! Tell your friends so they can sign up and they can sign up to make a show piece album for Thanksgiving!

To purchase the class click on the link here "Thanksgiving mini album" you will be taken to the store.

Classes will open November 9 - December 2nd, so hurry before time runs out!

Are you thinking TURKEY?

I don't know what it is but I'm finding that I am getting so excited about the upcoming Holidays. I can't wait to shop for our Thanksgiving dinner. Nor the day all of us girls make homemade pies, it's such a special tradition that we started a few years back. We all gather around the table listening to the sounds of the season. Katie, Jennifer and Kristen begin cutting apples. While Julie and I make a mess creating the dough...and yes we roll out our own dough!

We then begin piling all the apples inside the dough our pie ends up standing five inches tall! And then while it's cooking we start our pumpkin pie and other desserts that we will share when we met at my sisters on Thanksgiving night for desserts. Oh my mouth is watering now.

I hope that you have some special traditions that you have planned for the Holidays. I would love to hear them.

I have a file for those who have joined my group so log on today to receive your file, it's one I just released in the store "Turkey Time". I hope you like it and if you use it and submit a picture you while receive a special coupon to chose one of my files from the store. It doesn't have to be a layout you could make a card and embellish it with the roasting turkey. Or how about a recipe card so many awesome things can be made with my files.

note ****The layouts shown on the right were submitted by some customers and my Creative Design team. I hope you will take a moment to look at their awesome layouts! I love each one of them! And would like to hear what you think about them. Do you have one that stands out the most to you...let me know!

Happy Halloween!

So where have I been these last couple of days? fighting this virus which I just got back from the doctor and was ordered to bed, I have Pneumonia, I kind of expected it since Julie had it and three other students at her school.

Quickly I will fill you in... the Thanksgiving album is more than half way finished so I will post pictures as soon as I can finish..... I've got to say it's awesome! I know you will love it!

Free files- I'm sorry I know I missed the one on Lorelei's birthday that's when I began feeling crummy, I'll get one to you tomorrow through the group, so sign in some time late tomorrow morning.

Hope you all have a wonderful time this evening trick or treating with your children or just answering the door, it's one of my favorite nights. But I'm going to rest so I don't have to go in for treatments....

Carrie

Busy Day

I'm feeling the pressure! Getting all the files in order for my "Thanksgiving 2007" class, I think it's going to take longer to pull it all together than I thought. But it will be so worth it for my students, sometimes I just come up with these ideas like color coding the files...what was I thinking!!!!! Well I was thinking how I wanted this to be an album you can just throw together...my pain...your gain.

I can't tell you how excited I was when I received notice that my first student has signed up for this class... that just makes me smile, just knowing that you guys like my stuff. I feel so blessed!

Last year I was running up and down the highways delivering scrapbook kits to four different stores, it was fun for a while but I worried to about all that driving and if I forgot something that meant another trip home and then back to the store. Two of the stores were 45 minutes away...it was a car accident that made me reflect to quit placing my stuff in the stores...today I am so thankful for that horrible night when our family was in a car accident! Sometimes we have no idea what wonderful things await us after a tragedy.

Well just letting you know what I've been up to here in my studio...busy, busy, busy! Which is a good thing! Have a great day!

We are still searching for the right ones Jesse wants to be a lion, Julie is going to be Hanna Montana, Kristen is switching roles with one of her guy friends, he's going to her and she will dress up like him. Jennifer is still not sure what she wants to be. And Scott and I are still searching for the right suit for tonights Halloween Costume party. I just can't wait to get out and enjoy the company of some dear friends and family. It should be a blast!

Here's a peak at the file that is in the folder in our group, just in time for Halloween so log on to the group and get your free file. All week I've been catching up on getting some files placed in the store, you can see them on the right in my slide.

One thing you will notice that is different when downloading any of the new files are the directions. I'm very excited that Michelle suggested that we from typing to illustrating the directions. Here's a sample for you to see.

Upcoming class ~ "Thanksgiving 2007" album~

I am very excited about this project it is turning out so adorable. But it won't be released until early next week. The album will be complete from cover to cover with all kinds of new and old files, pages full of embellishments and ribbons. And I've stepped it up a notch using a new product to add some sparkle! I went shopping last night and picked up some of Heidi Grace's papers and it just makes everything pop! I'm working hard to make it easy for you to put together a memorable Thanksgiving, your just going to love it! Watch for this sometime next week.

Thank you for all of your support~ I hope you will enjoy the trick or treaters file and remember if you finish a project and want to share I will give you a free file of your choice.

Good morning

I'm sitting here taking a sigh of relief while drinking second cup of coffee. I just put Julie on the bus after two weeks of staying home and nursing her. It's a good feeling seeing here board the bus with a big smile! Just crossing my fingers that we don't get slammed with homework.... it's going to be a busy weekend!

Saturday night Scott and I are going to our first costume party, we just never use to get out and I can't wait to see all my wonderful cousins and great Aunt. Still not sure what I'm going to dress up as? I do have a flappers dress but I need to find a pin striped suit for Scott, maybe I'll run to Good will this weekend.

Sunday we have Lorelei's birthday and I better get her something good she's such a good little girl, I want to find her something very special! Then on Monday , Jennifer, Kristen, Julie and I have a report and display due, YIKES we haven't even started it's for PSR we are suppose to pick an unfamiliar Saint. At least we know who we are choosing, St. Louis De Montford, one of my favorites! And one of Pope John Paul II, who would carry his writings in his back pocket renewing his consecration to Jesus every thirty-three days. But we need the details so I guess we are going to be cramming this in. And we will be putting the Klic-N-Kut to work making a beautiful display. I'll have to share pic.s when we are finished.

Last night I began cutting the first two pieces for my next class... I am so excited about it and hope to have some pictures of the album by the end of the weekend so you can start thinking if you want to sign up.

Don't forget to look in our forum for another surprise and I have a file in the store at Paperthreads to give away so make sure you go there to download it. While you are there check out the 33 % off on my fall super files, before you know it you'll have some awesome layouts done.

Before I go I would like to thank all of you who have purchased my files! It's such a reward to see that my designs are enjoyed!

wHeW! Back in the swing of things!

Well we had a fun birthday celebration for Jesse! He is something.... we had some of his presents wrapped in the morning allowing him to open two before daddy went to work. Then later while I was busy on the computer he sneaked right behind me and took his largest present off the table...carried it into the living room, that's when I heard him..."oh, cool...this is so neat...WOW mom". I looked over and realized he had opened his tool set. He was so excited... since now he has his own set of tools and a belt to carry it in! I grabbed my camera and the darn batteries were dead....Which was a good thing I discovered it then... I just plugged it in and it was ready for later. I had to call Scott and he just laughed and said "Well I have one more big present to pick up." He came home with a Home Depot tool bench so Jesse's been hammering and drilling all day!

Which was nice for me since I jammed out some files...speaking of files don't forget to look in the file folder tomorrow late morning... I'll have another surprise for you. Did you get the robot? I think he turned out so cute. I can't wait to make a page with it!

Enjoy your evening I'm off to bed!
