Blog Party

If you're looking for the blog party ......then you have arrived at the right place!

WELCOME!!!! All of you new to the cutting world! We want to celebrate with you as proud owners of the most exciting tools in scrapbooking!!!!! So did you get a Klic-N-Kut, Pazzles, Scrapsavvy, Silhouette, Wishblade or a CraftRobo? I know many of you received yours for Christmas..... since Michelle was swamped with shipping orders....... YOU must be on top of the world!!!

And a big Welcome... kiss and big hugs to all of my daily readers and members of my group! You guys are the back bone of my creativity....you keep me going with new ideas, encouragement and well...... gosh I'm going to get all teary eyed all your sweet sweet emails!!!!!

How I got on as an Exclusive Designer for Paperthreads (if your interested then read on.....)
It's been a wonderful year for me....if some of you don't know....last year I had quit my business of supplying stores with my kits...which where doing very well until our family was in an automobile accident.... No one was seriously injured but it set us back...I would sit up late at night wondering what to do next...I didn't want to get on the highway delivering to stores any longer..... I prayed and clicked...clicking away at designs that's about all I could do....being so numb.... then in March I happened to log onto my favorite web site...You know what I'm talking about...

Paperthreads!!!!
It seemed to be the place to hang out...I was looking for another swap to participate in and I clicked in an area that I had never gone before....There was an announcement....they (Michelle) was looking for new designers and just a week ago I was thinking wouldn't it be idea if some how I could get on as a designer? BUT there was only 24 hours left till the deadline....and I had to create 5 new files....so I set to work....Pushing everything aside...for the next 24 hours my family of 9 thought I lost my mind!!! Get your own meals, clean your own laundry ...I've got to get this done.....

Within 24 hours I had five files ready to go...it was 20 minutes to midnight....20 minutes till the deadline!!!!!! so I logged on and clicked the email link to submit my files....then suddenly I realized I needed to tweak just one more file....I closed out the Paperthreads web page and opened the file....within 15 minutes I had it ready to go...so I logged on to Paperthreads....I went directly to the post for submitting and it was gone!!!!!

I then realized that the time zones must be different and I just lost out on submitting my files!!!!!!I sat in front of my computer with my head hidden in my hands....I couldn't believe that I allowed this to happen that it was just a matter of time that I neglected to look into and just blew a dream.....

I sat there shaking my head giving up I began to shut down all the programs that were open....WAIT what's this....could it be????? I had clicked on the email link and it was sitting there on my task bar.....A chance an unbelievable chance!!!

I proceeded to fill out the email apologizing for the late arrival and explained that even though the post was gone I still wanted to give it a chance since I still had the email for submitting......then I sent off the five files.....
with in a couple of days I received an email do you have pictures of these files cut out...well I went to work on them and finally got my answer that I was chosen along with the other designers and I have to say it has been such a blessing!

We have much to CELEBRATE!!!!

and to celebrate...... the closing of such a blessed year.....

While making Christmas cookies.....

I wanted to share with you one my favorite Christmas traditions...and that is listening to the Delilah Show!

Have you ever tuned into her show? I placed a link directly to a list of how you can hear her....

I just love hearing all of her wisdom...as she listens to (she really listens!) and answers the calls that come in... many of the callers have wonderful uplifting Christmas stories to share...sometimes they make me cry and sometimes they make me laugh....but what really gets me is to hear how Delilah has understood the heart of the person who called!! She is so talented in giving the perfect advice or direction that one needs to go ....then she always plays the perfect song to go with the callers story....I hope you like the share!

Merry Christmas!

Carrie

Random acts of kindness.....

a surprise card arrived in our mail box the other day......it was addressed from "Santa" but it didn't say from the North Pole....i was very curious who do i know from the town of Pacific? no recollection of anyone.....i just couldn't wait for everyone to get home..... so i opened the envelope... as i read the card wishing our family many blessings a huge smile came across my face as i saw the last printed words....ho-ho-ho....your friend Jerry.

we hadn't heard from Jerry in years! it was truly a surprise such a gift to my heart...and when Scott came home from work that evening...i handed him the card as i watched and waited to see the big smile come across his face and it did...

i couldn't believe how that little card meant so much to Scott and i...you couldn't give us a better present...it was such a simple thing for Jerry to do...then the thought came to me...who hasn't heard from us in a long long time...i was inspired to pull out the white pages and start looking up names...adding old high school friends, old neighbors and church friends to my list...know i noticed that i have a gleam on my face.... as i to wonder how they will receive our Christmas blessings?

to my dear friends here...i'm giving away two coupons.... to two lucky winners drawn.... so click on the little comments link.....leave your name and address....our family will have a drawing tomorrow night and post the winners .....

Cheers!

Deals you might want to tell your friends about!

it all started back in 2004- my addiction to scrapbooking...i knew this was something i would continue to do after i made my first father's day album for my dh and saw the tears in his eyes...i began with some basic supplies...that i purchased from Wal-Mart of all places!!!

i didn't know better at the time....they had specialty scrapbook stores...i have to laugh when thinking back...i blame it on years of being a stay-at-home mom and home-schooling...i just got lost in being a wife, mother, teacher...

...when i was tiring of cutting my embellishments by hand... i began thinking about taking the financial leap into purchasing a sizzix machine... thank goodness a friend invited me to a trade show... which i have to say was way over whelming for me!!! but....when i came to a booth that was displaying the wishblade...i couldn't believe it!!!! that this machine would cut any font you had on your computer and you could resize the font...the wheels started turning.....i started asking all kinds of questions...by the time i was through i knew i needed that machine!!!!

with in a month i had my wishblade and so thrilled!!! i remember my first cut it was like Christmas!!!! my friend was dropping off her daughter i just had to run out and share it with her....besides my collection of papers it is the best investment i could have made...well you ladies know all about the excitement!!!

...then some how we found this great community which shares our passion...every thing we need to learn about our machines...instructions on welding...instructions on drawing....sharing our memories...its like having our own little family right here on the net!! and the more i get to know some of you i feel like your my sisters...so why am i telling you these things when you know just how i feel???

i want you to start thinking about your friends that are still tracing and cutting by hand or using a die-cut machine....and share just how excited you are about your electronic machine...because right now is the best time to buy

...or even upgrade...i loved my wishblade and it was very suited for me as a beginner...but then i took the leap back in October to purchase the KNK element...which is still a beast but i'm learning all that it can do...

Michelle has some wonderful sales on the Craft Robo CC200-20 machines & the Klic-N-Kut XL (15" Cutting Width) you can click on the links on the scrolling bar to see all that you will recieve with each machine...

and if you mention my name when you make your purchase i will give you $15.00 worth of my files free that's along with all the other goodies Michelle has in store for you...

Read up on what you will get with the purchase of a Craft Robo from the Papethreads blog... or send a link to one of your friends...they will be so happy you shared your passion with them...

I'm in the mood......

for making Christmas cards...

last year our family received several cards from the people at our Parish...it was so thoughtful of them to take a moment and send us blessings and to have us in their prayers...that was after our car accident...it really surprised my husband that others thought of us...

....so this past weekend i picked up some names of people from our parish to send Christmas cards to....some of them are very ill...i want to send each one of them cards that will lift their spirits... so i'm busy today making these cards sharing them with you...maybe one will inspire you to get creative... if you have any cards that you made with any of my files...send them to me at carrie_schwartz@att.net...remember if you do i will share a file with you!

cardstock Polar Paradise by Reminisce, Khaki green & blue, peace & love from file CS00124- Christmas titles III, snowflake from file CS00127- Snowflakes & Titles!, fiber khaki green

no surprises!!!!

one of my favorite things to do each year is make my own Christmas cards... i love to share my talent but i don't want it to cost an arm and a leg!!!!

one year i found out the hard way..... i created some elegant Christmas cards using bazzill cardstock..... i had over 30 embellished cards and made my own envelopes to match ...i was so proud of the work i had put into them....and couldn't wait to get them off in the mail.

i had to be the happiest customer standing in line at the post office.....gleaming with such a big smile..... thinking about my friends and relatives opening these cards...i stepped up to the clerk handing her my pile........ and then she let me have it!!!!! all of my pride wiped away with just a few lashings...as the postal clerk advised me of all my no-no's

...first i exceeded standard weight for first class mail (it was that bazzill cardstock!)....then the worst most embarrassing moment when she plopped one of my envelopes in here little guide sitting there on the counter ...have you ever seen it? the little outlined envelope meauring 5 inches long, 3-1/2 inches high..... i'm like where did that come from????...never in my life have i ever seen that on her counter...which at the time i was visiting the post office weekly shipping off my ebay sales.

well......i addressed the envelope the wrong way!!!! when she set the envelope down with the address facing me....it went out of it's boundaries......i had turned the envelope to address the cards so the card was now 3 1/2 inches by 5 inches.......my thoughts returned to those lessons taught in second grade and my face turned bright red...i should have known better! but wait...can't the postman read it side ways? nope, nada, no way she says to me!

all that work all that time...and it was way over the amount i planned on spending.....i couldn't just walk away...... so i handed over the credit card and bit my tongue..... thank you thank you mr. postman for the extra dip in my pocket ....so lesson learned........i now check the first class mail rates to make sure I am mailing at the correct width, height and weight before planning and addressing my envelopes..... that way i have no surprises.....

oh yeah and the deadline to mail your cards so they arrive before Christmas is December 20th in the usa. if you need more information on mailing just check out usps.

Christmas Cards

so this year we are looking to send out Christmas cards...

these are some of the cards or photos we sent in the past...

i'm curious to see what we come up with this year...

it must be done this weekend! we are running out of time but so hard to get everyone together.

hope your preparations are going well...

I'm sorry about the long delay... You guys know me I get so darn busy.... it's hard to keep up the blog with such a big family and so much going on.

Over the weekend I brought the kids to see Enchanted it was the most adorable movie... I smiled throughout the whole thing and at times roared with laughter...Jennifer said I embarrassed her....but don't all mom's embarrass their thirteen year olds? You have got to see this new Disney movie!! It is enchanting!

We also went ice skating- oh so much fun. Lorelei and Jesse had a difficult time but Julie she took off! I was glad Brian and Katie went with us.... they helped with the little peeps and I tried to get use to wearing hockey skates because the figure skates were killing my ankles....never had that problem. It's different skating in those hockey skates at first I wasn't sure how to stop....but thank goodness I only fell forward slowly and didn't do to much damage. I still am a little weary of going around the curve, haven't figured out how to maneuver my feet...but with some time I'll get it. We are planning to go back this weekend and skate with Santa...wish my camera wasn't broke...I'm missing so many great moments.

On Sunday....Scott surprised me with some VIP tickets to see the RAMS. That was my first professional football game... I was amazed at all the hype going as we walked to the stadium. Bands playing, people cooking out of their tailgates... I've only seen this on tv! Boy do I miss out on a lot!

But......we had a blast...we stayed in a luxury suite filled with fabulous foods... I ate the whole time we were there! Well.....it was free so I took advantage.... We met new friends, enjoyed a fantastic game which we won against the Atlanta Falcons.....

This week I worked on a tutorial for the NEWSLETTER, showing how to apply snow to your projects. The other designers have been working hard on their articles. And there will be free files given away so if you haven't singed up you can click on the link to do so. If you delay you won't get this months issue.

Now for a file for the group.....

Have a great day and don't forget St. Nicholas feast day December 6th...I've got to go get shopping!

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

Our Parish did a wonderful job of setting the mood for Julie's first reconciliation. It was so beautiful the lights were dim with a large ten candelabra that sat on the alter. The service began with a song then a reading which was followed by ten examinations of conscience (for children), each time one was read our Priest put out a candle. What a powerful message in showing the darkness of our sin.

The children, all ninety eight of them then sang a song with hand motions invoking the Holy Spirit, this lasted about seven minutes (I wish I had a video camera going it was so beautiful I was ready to cry)! Each child was lead by an usher to the confessional. When Julie returned we stepped up on the alter and placed a colored flame that she worked on over the weeks coloring a section in each day when she did some act of kindness. This was placed on a large ten foot black flame representing "sin" and now it was being covered up by grace. At the foot of the alter was a large table with candles, when then light one candle and by the end of the evening all ninety eight candles were brightly shining. The service concluded with the children singing "this little light of mine".

Then we went to the banquet center for refreshments and we ate way to many desserts. So on our way home Julie says "For real... I have a stomach ache!" I replied "Hum, for real? So on the evenings before school when you say you have a stomach ache...those aren't real?" She laughed...cause finally I know. It was a graced filled moment.... the truth coming to light...this has been a weekly complaint breaking into cries so next time she complains I'm going to remind her.....little stinker....she just always wants to be with me.

************************************************************************************

Now for you....As I'm placing Christmas files in the store I have had some help from little elves they have tucked some coupons in some of the files for you to save on future purchases, so if your one of the lucky ones you just may come across one of these coupons.
I've had a couple of personal emails on making a Christmas album...in hopes that I do! My question is....Does anyone think they would have time? If I could make this and hold the classes open through the middle of January..... would you be interested? PLEASE Let me now as soon as possible.... I think with enough interest I could have it done by the weekend, considering I made the cover a month ago and put a lot of work into it. Leave a post here if you don't mind it's easier for me to see it. The album could be....Christmas gifts that you give to friends & family????

Tomorrow I will spread some good cheer with another file uploaded to the group. Before I go I want to thank those who have sent me emails from sharing my files. It cheers me up to hear how you will use them.

New Christmas files

I just released some new files this past week and it's been a busy week! I haven't had much time at all to get on the computer but in between running I've created some awesome files!!!!
You can view them in the little slide on your right. I have many more that I just have to cut so keep watch for them.

Tomorrow I will give away a file from the group and make an announcement on a special surprise tucked in some of my files.

I worked on this layout using my new file "Santa going down the chimney". It's already for pictures! I'm hoping to get caught up on Christmas layouts before the big day.

I've been thinking about creating that Christmas album... I finished the cover a while back and don't know if I will have the time to complete it.... If I don't get to it by this weekend I'm going to have to let it go...at least for this year!

If you are interested in taking a class please let me know by posting here or emailing me..... if their is enough interest I just might push myself but time is running short.

I also have a little problem...my camera broke or should I say some little toddler around here did something to it. It's very hard to use it shuts off when I take a picture and I'm a little upset with fugi since I purchased my camera four years ago. They made the smart card for it then stopped so now I don't know if I'm wanting it to be repaired. Hopefully I'll get one for Christmas!

So to take pictures of techniques is a real bear! I was doing that with my Thanksgiving class and I don't know if I have the patients right now to deal with it.

Family life- Julie goes to her first Reconciliation tomorrow night...I'm so excited one more child to step into more GRACES!!! and we need them!!! Katie has taken a career change she is going to be an Art teacher.... I wonder whose foot steps she is following! The girls Jennifer and Kristen, they are Irish twins... are asking for everything under the sun...laptops, cell phones, stuff that is way to out of our league. And Jesse, he's learned some knock knock jokes so I hear them all day long....

Have a great week!

Carrie

Difference between Thanksgiving Mega Pack & Classes

I am receiving emails on about my Mega Pack & Classes since most of the files are the same.

Here's the difference between the two:

The class gives you access to step -by -step instructions for making the Thanksgiving album from cover to back. Each file is color coded for easy cutting. This means the die-cuts are separated in pieces to coordinate colors. A file of brown_latte would have everything that you would need to cut in these colors on that file. Each file has a color-coded illustrated guide telling you exactly where the pieces would go.

The class also has colorful instructions for placing all the pieces per page. I give illustrated instructions on techniques used on some of the die-cuts and mats. By the end of the class you will have a beautiful Thanksgiving album.

The Mega Pack is full of all of the files that I created for Thanksgiving and never placed in the store which were created for the album or just never had the time to load as an individual file.
Each file has it's own die-cut all in one. Not like the class which is color-coded.

So if you want these files individually to add to your own layouts then I would go with the Mega pack if you want to make the album then purchasing the class is the way to go.

Cranberry Nut Mold

I didn't forget you...but I did forget the name of my Grandmother's mold...it's actually her Cranberry Nut Mold and I hope that you will try it! It's tradition in our home and easy to make. The recipe is below.

Cranberry Nut Mold

1 bag (12 ounces) cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
2 pkg. 4 serving size or 1 pkg.- 8 serving size of orange Jello gelatin
1 1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 apple
1 whole orange

Chop crannberries, orange, apple and nuts throw all ingredients in a jello mold, place in the refrigerator till firm.

I make this the night before Thanksgiving. I begin with the nuts throwing them in my food processor till they are chopped very small like grains. I clear that out putting them aside and add my cranberries to the food processor. Next I slice the apple first then put that in my machine. The last thing I chop is the orange and I include the peel.

I hope that you will enjoy !

While looking for my grandmother's Cranberry Nut Mold I found a picture of our turkey from last years Thanksgiving meal. I thought you might want to see what it looks like...I just can't wait now after seeing this.

You can get the recipe below from clicking on the link I posted yesterday...it is simply delicious.
