A SNEAK PEEK WITH A CHANCE TO WIN!

I've been busy finding new ways to organize my scrap room so that I can get back to my number one passion and that's creating memories! When everything is a mess I just waste so much time looking for things. I 'm going to give you a sneak-peek at what I've done and show you some organizing tips AND the bargain of the year that I found at the dollar store!!!!!

I scrap out of a HOOSIER CABINET and LOVE IT!!! I just love antiques and collectibles and when we found this old cabinet I just had to have it!!! Sometimes I just get caught up in the thought that some mother was once rolling dough on the porcelain table top of this old cabinet. It just makes it that more unique to be creating memories from. If I need more room to scrap I just pull the top out and it extends giving me nearly another foot to work on!!! Cool isn't it. I never never want to change a thing about it!!! I even love the chipped paint!!! Am I crazy or what?

It's obvious I love to scrap...... my house is full of little projects I have created!

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.....

Brads they are too much fun to work with!

AND MORE BRADS!

I have to have my paint brushes!!!

And paints!
I love to paint but it's been a long time!!
One day soon I'll have to share that work with you too!

Fibers GALORE!!

Ribbons, glitter and more!

Last weeks deal of the year!! These colorful containers found at the dollar tree!!

And YES.... They were only a dollar!

More ribbons!

I just love these containers!

*Jule spent an evening helping me put the flowers on and wrapping my ribbon*

Flowers... I love flowers on pages!

Did I mention.....I 'm going to give you the chance to win a file..... sound like fun? I've been working on a file that's top secret!!!! All I'm going to say is the first one to guess what it is that I've been working on from a CLUE in my pictures wins that file!! So think hard what could I be creating behind the scenes here that would help you get organized?

Think outside the BOX! Growth Chart Classes

After speaking with Michelle I have decided to move to the forum for teaching this project and for teaching future classes you can access that information here by clicking on the link "classes" above. It will explain what I will be offering in the future.

[OK so the link takes you directly to sign up for the "SO BIG" class, please make sure you read the post above it explains how the classes and access to the classroom will work....latest post for today]

You can then sign up for my first on-demand class the "SO BIG" growth chart by going to the second post found under that link. The think outside the box is still being offered free so don't delay in signing up and see the first post for how it should work.

I appreciate you being patient as I shift gears so to speak.. I am very excited about this opportunity to share more and believe it will be a great service to our community at Paperthreads. See you there!

Carrie

Posted earlier today....

Hello Nikki, Shae, Margaret, Mary and Deb,

Oh my gosh I am totally embarrassed I just realized by reading my post from the sixth that I was going to open that yahoo group and give you the supplies list for the growth chart on the tenth... for some reason I had it stuck in my mind to start today! I guess I better get a calendar in front of my face!!!!

Well here's the deal ... I'm working with Michelle to get a place on the forum, hopefully today! Rather than go off to another group... this way it will feel nice and cozy like home!!!

Once we get our spot set up on the forum I will post the link here for you to go to then you can sign in and I will have the supply list for you there...

All the classes will be instructed right from the forum...sound nice!

So off to get that prepared for you!

I'm sorry for the delay!!

I'm a little late but....

Oh..my have I had all kinds of computer problems...last night after getting everyone off to bed I sat down to connect to the internet.... I couldn't!! I couldn't get any email either than I realized my husband had switch services and the new modem was still packed sitting on a shelf....

Thank goodness my husband pitched in and we got it going... but then I had to set it all up...create accounts... YUC! and all that crazy stuff....

Then I had problems with cutting files...one thing after another you know how it goes... my usb came unplugged and I spent an hour trying to figure it out!! Finally I called Michelle...you guys know how wonderful she is!!! With in minutes she was on my computer and had it fixed!!! WHEW!!! So I do apologize for the delay.... I'm also preparing to leave for the weekend...lots of shopping, packing and all that stuff!

I'm giving you the owl file it's one of my favorites since my mother use to collect owls.... September is the month she past away... so it seemed fitting to honor her by creating an owl of my own!! I hope you like it!! And Hope to see someones layout or project from using it!

That would be such a gift to me......HINT!...HINT!!!!

So have a good night I will be pulling this off in less than twenty-four hours since I'll be out of town..... So don't delay in downloading!!!

WE REMEMBER!!!!

Last night my girls had assignments on remembering 911 after they were through we talked about them remembering... Julie and Kristen had an idea they wanted to make posters for the neighborhood. I told them that's a little to much because we needed to get to bed... so I promised if they wanted I would post their posters on my blog.... here they are...

Organizing and Learning

It's hard to get to everything, lately! Last week my new Klick-N-Kut arrived... I've got to tell you it's the best purchase that I have EVER made!!! And so thrilled Michelle has encouraged her designers to get it!

I had to laugh when it arrived... it's size and durablilty is nothing like the wishblade! I took a picture for you to see!!

Some of the difference that I noticed right away... SPEED! When I went to test the pen tool and it took off... I jumped back nearly falling into my chair! And it wasn't even set to the highest setting! Even with the speed the cuts are nice and smooth!!!!

I love the way it loads and how you can adjust the rollers to sit right on top of any size paper... so if you need to cut a 6 x 6 sheet of paper you just adjust the rollers and set origin with a computerized touch pad right on the front of the machine!

Then their is the software....it's loaded!!! The program is a full scale graphics art program... so no need to go out and purchase expensive software... this has it! Some of the steps like welding once you get the letters overlapping just like you want then, with a click of a button...your fonts are welded.

It's a big program with customized settings so their is much to learn... which it seems like my nose is in the manual a lot here lately... but it's all good! The more customized settings the better the file...better quality!

One of my favorite features is when you go to cut.... a file, you have all these colored lines that outline each element... you no longer have to move any of the files.... you just go to cut select cut by color and place that colored paper on the mat.... then it cuts only that color...AWESOME feature!!!!!

If you are considering the leap towards the KNK.... I have to give it a thumbs up... you won't regret it!! As I play more with it I'll post more about it....

I'm still working on converting files... I will be giving away one tomorrow...thanks for your patience... just trying to regroup, figure out this program and organize my neglected scrap room!

happy scrapping!

"Shiver Me Timbers Buccaneers,Wat a Party Ye Gonna' ave!"

Remember "THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX"

Don’t exclude your self from the class….

If you have older children, like school age and/or older your pediatrician should have records of your child height and weight, so you can always get these records and fill them in with little 2x2 photos of your child at that age.

And you don’t have to have a baby theme think of other themes like school, sports, prince/princess, a favorite animal or collection when planning for the class.

Remember think outside the box!

Have a great night and happy scrapping... I just might scrap a few pages this week... It's good therapy!

Growth Chart

I'd like to hear from you if you are interested in a class to make the growth chart....

If I get as least five who are interested... I will open a group in yahoo to host the class... The class is free! But you will need to get your own supplies- papers, adhesives, ribbons and such. I will provide the files for you download with cute embellishments, the letters "SO BIG", the numbers and dashes for measuring in inches and feet.

I would like to post the supplies on the 10th of September in the group... giving you a little over a week to gather all that you need. The instructions will be posted on a daily bases broken up into sections in this way if you have any questions you could ask them that day. I know some will move ahead quickly because that's just the way they are and others just need more time, I believe this will be the best way to handle the project.

To give you an idea- on the first day we would create the base for the chart. The second day we would place the marks for measuring. On the third day we would then begin to create our layout...but you can't jump ahead here because embellishments have to be placed. If we are moving through the project.... on the fourth day techniques for the antique crackled hinges and for making those cute little polka dot ribbons.....

Did I mention this folds nicely for storage? I even have a place for a tie, so it stays closed.

So why not call your friends tell them about the class and we will get together and have a blast making a treasured keepsake for you or for a gift! Leave me a comment so I can get an idea of who wants to join.

Think OUTSIDE the BOX

Do you like to go beyond page layouts, cards and altered items? Why not try a growth chart?
They are a wonderful way of keeping track of your little ones growth.... and a wonderful gift!

I came up with this idea two summers ago, it was a hit at the store I was designing for. I taught the class and while it was on display for sign ups, Donna Downey was visiting the store. I was encouraged by the manager Nancy W. to talk with her and Nancy introducing me as the one who made the chart. Well I was a little over whelmed to be talking to a celb. and all but I managed to ask her some questions... I just love her! Just like her work she is simple and down to earth!

Anyway... I had purchased her book and she signed it...encouraging me to keep sharing... So I was thinking ...I share my files but what about my other stuff? It's not hard to make the growth chart! Over a week we could do it together, what do you think? Are you interested in making a growth chart?

Free Crocs today!

I hope that you had a chance to download the free croc file!
If not you can still purchase them through the store.

Sharing my crocs with you....

Happy cutting!

Carrie

I'm moving... my blog

Hello... all of you wonderful peeps!

I hope your labor day weekend has been wonderful!

I've been hitting the blog's lately and decided to move.... It's going to take me a little while to get up & going but the site is going to be fabulous!!!

I want it to have more of artsy feel than I have here! I'm not much of a writer, I need the freedom of expression that's why I'm taking the leap and so excited about it.

Also... i'm waiting for the arrival of the new Klic-n-Kut Element. I have so many wonderful files coming up for you and will be back to offering freebies!

Cute story....

I took Jesse with me shopping with me the other day... as we were checking out a mother placed her baby laying in the pumpkin seat right next to us.... I said "Jesse... Look at the baby! Isn't she beautiful? He bends down and takes a long look at her....... stands up right putting his little hand on his hip and says.... "NOT as cute as me...."

I about died!!! What do you do when all he's ever heard was "OH, that hair.... he's so cute, every where we go... maybe we should just stay home!"

Actually, he finally told us today he is ready for his first hair cut... I'll have to let you know how it went... last time when we had an appointment and they were already to take him to wash his hair he threw a fit and we had to leave....

Have a great night!

All the crab you can eat!

I love crab!

This was the last layout I worked on ... from our Florida vacation....

Don't the crab legs look YUMMY?

Thank you for the votes!!!!

I appreciate everyone who voted for my picture... I just found out that the company has many many complaints against their practices. Thanks to Jennifer Adkins who did the research for me! I am removing the link and if you submitted a photo to them ignore their emails!!! They are making an offer to publish your creative work and then they want you to purchase the book... complaints have been filed against them. People never received their book, many photos in the book that others received are stock photos... their are just to many complaints against them... It's a shame!!!

That's my bad news of the day....now for the good news.......

My KNK element is on it's way!!!! YEAH!!! I'm so excited about this... you know I loved my wishblade but when designing for others you just need to cut faster and have crisp clean cuts every time!!!

I'm looking forward to many things that the Klic-N-Kut has to offer..the maximum cutting width of 8.5 inches and 500 grams of force! Which will cut thicker materials like chipboard and funfoam. It comes with 2,000 True Type Font CD, you know I love to work with fonts!

This will be good for you too!! I won't have to wait to get files converted... I will be able to work faster leaving me some more time to get files to you... My work will be more detailed.... I can't wait for it's arrival.... It should be here on Wednesday!!!

So to celebrate I am giving away one of my files "We all scream for Ice Cream".

Night!

I'm just Dreaming of the new KNK "whoppin'" machine!!!!

It’s a week ago today that school started. I’m still getting use to the quite house…. So quite!!! It seems like I was more productive when the girls were at home???? I managed to complete a couple of files and am awaiting their conversion to the new KNK format…. I know you will love them!!! Once they are converted I can put them up in the store… It’s always a good feeling when they go live!!!

Talking about the new machine which I have nick named the "whopping” machine since it does eVeRyThInG that we scrappers have ever dreamed of!!! With 2000 additional fonts ~ boy I could weld and design like crazy!!! It cuts chipboard, felt, heavy bazzill paper, light weight fabric, vinyl and more!! And cuts faster at a blazing speed of 24.5 inches per second!! Which my wishblade is lacking behind by cutting 3.9 inches per second… Just imagining the amount of files I could crank out!!!

I just keep dreaming of the day!!! Just takes a little longer with such a big family. I mean theirs milk to buy… clothes, shoes and school supplies it just doesn’t end… but it’s all good!!! I wouldn’t change it for the world!!

Today’s free file My Class title and caulk board!! It’s a great file for your back to school pages. Use the caulk board as a journaling block by writing your child’s goals for the year… Or write down your thoughts as your child goes off to school… however you chose to use it....... I would love love love to see!!!!!!!

Share your layout with us! The first one to do so will get their choice of one free file from me!!!

Don’t forget the sale, you can still purchase my back to school files at a 25% discount and finish many pages even a whole album…

Have a wonderful day!!!

Carrie
